Kim Barclift began her teaching career in 1999. From 1999-2011 Mrs. Barclift taught at C.M. Eppes Middle School in Greenville, NC. In 2011 Mrs. Barclift moved to Carteret County. She was director of bands at Morehead City Middle School (2011-2014) and West Carteret High School (2014-2017). Mrs. Barclift has been the director at Broad Creek Middle School, in Newport NC, since 2017. Throughout her career, her bands have consistently received Superior ratings at the North Carolina Concert Band MPA, as well as numerous marching accolades while at West Carteret High School.

Mrs. Barclift graduated Magna Cum Laude from East Carolina University as a NC Teaching Fellow in 1999, with a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education. In 2008 Mrs. Barclift received National Board Certification in Music for Early Adolescents and Young Adults. She earned her Master’s of Music in Music Education degree from Boston University in 2012.

In addition to teaching band, Mrs. Barclift has served as department chair, lead mentor for new teachers, and supervised clinical interns for East Carolina University. She actively served the Eastern District Bandmasters Association as the Chairperson and Host for the Middle School All District Bands (1999-2011) and as a district representative for the North Carolina Bandmasters Association’s MPA committee (2012-2014). Currently she is President for the Eastern District Bandmasters Association.

Mrs. Barclift has been fortunate to be recognized as “Teacher of the Year” twice during her career, at both C.M. Eppes and Morehead City Middle Schools. In 2013 Mrs. Barclift was inducted into the American School Band Directors Association. She also works at the ECU Summer Band Camp, as director of the Green Band. Mrs. Barclift is an active adjudicator and clinician with both marching and concert bands.

Mrs. Barclift makes her home in Newport, NC with her husband Jason Barclift and their son Elijah.
